Baseball drops opening game of Messiah series, 5-2

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Stevenson University baseball team took an early lead against Messiah in the opener of their series on Friday, but, the Falcons quickly answered in the bottom of the first in a 5-2 win.

The Falcons (12-9, 7-0 MACC) scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, after Stevenson (7-16, 2-5 MACC) took a 1-0 lead after Dalton Reinhart drove home Nick Griffin on a fielders choice. 

Trailing 5-1, Stevenson got a run back in the sixth as Kaige Garrity homered to left center. 

The Mustangs got 11 hits, with Griffin, Christopher Manco, Collin Palmeri and Garrity all collecting two hits. 

Jake Treasure took the loss, falling to 0-6. He struck out two and walked nine in six innings of work. Caden Dail and Ari Lonstein each threw a hitless inning in relief. 

The two teams resume their series at noon on Saturday at The Yard at East.
