ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (7-3) defeated the Elizabethtown Blue Jays (4-5) 13-12 after a fourth quarter comeback from a six-goal deficit on Wednesday night.
The Blue Jays put the first goal in the back of the net at 13:38.
Grant Zick replied and put Stevenson on the board about three minutes later, followed by a goal from
Dillon Linhardt with an assist from
Taz Delaney to make it a 2-1 game.
Elizabethtown came out in the second quarter to tie the game 2-2, but the Mustangs replied with goals from
Dominic Jennings and
Darrell Curtis to make it 4-2. The Blue Jays then retaliated with two goals to tie the contest 2-2 at half.
In the third quarter, Elizabethtown put up a string of five goals before Curtis could finally put Stevenson on the board again with just a second left in the quarter with a man-up goal. The Blue Jays led 9-5 heading into the final quarter.
The Blue Jays came out in the fourth quarter and put two goals away to extend their lead to 11-5, but the Mustangs replied with an eight-goal surge to get back on top.
Connor Dunay put the sixth goal for Stevenson away, followed by goals from
Andrew Searing and
Hunter Bryant to make it 11-8. With under five minutes left to play, Curtis, Bryant, Searing, Zick, and
Gavin Gossen each put away goals to make it a 13-11 game for the Mustangs. Elizabethtown tried to tie the game back up but came up a goal short. The Mustangs took the 13-12 win with their fourth quarter offensive surge.
Curtis slotted a five-point night for the Mustangs with a hat trick and two assists, as Bryant, Zick and Searing netted two goals. Linhardt and Gossen each tallied a goal and an assist in the contest, and Dunay and Jennings each contributed a goal.
Tyler Merchant made 13 saves on the evening.
Stevenson will take some time to prepare for MAC Commonwealth play and will be back in action for conference play on Saturday, Apr. 5 as they host Eastern University. The contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
