Box Score 2 CHESTER, Pa. – Stevenson University pitcher Alexis Kirkessner fired a one-hitter in game two as Stevenson (11-2, 1-1 MACC) defeated Widener (7-10, 1-3 MACC) in the back end of a softball doubleheader on Saturday.
In game one, the Pride defeated the Mustangs in a slugfest, 9-8.
Game 1 – Widener 9, Stevenson 8
Game 1 saw the Mustangs collect 14 hits and take an 8-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth, before the Pride tied it in the bottom of the frame and then hit a walk-off home run in the seventh to win.
Trailing 3-0 after one, Stevenson got two back in the second as Danielle Mills grounded out to first scoring Ava Stafursky. Rebecca Henry would later score on a sacrifice fly by Maddie Buher.
The Mustangs tied the score in the third on a sacrifice fly by Mykaela Getz followed by a RBI single from Tessa Boswell that scored Stafursky. Henry would score her second run of the game on a RBI single by Mills.
After Widener tied the score in the fifth, Boswell singled home scoring Getz to take a 6-5 lead followed by Stafursky scoring as Mills was hit by a pitch. Sahara Ward singled up the middle scoring Henry for a 8-5 lead.
Henry and Boswell had three hits, with Getz and Mills each getting two. Mills had three RBI, while Boswell had two.
Ky Vaughn took the loss, walking three in six innings of work.
Game 2- Stevenson 7, Widener 0
After a scoreless first three innings, Stafursky homered to left scoring Getz for a 2-0 lead. Ward then tripled to right in the fifth scoring Caylee Cliett for a 3-0 advantage, followed by Ward scoring on a sacrifice RBI by McKenzie Tobler.
Henry would make the lead 5-0 on a sacrifice fly by Cliett in the sixth, followed a single to left in the seventh from Mills scoring Henry and Teagan Kreshik.
Rebecca Maiorano had three hits with Henry getting two.
Stevenson will host Hood on Tuesday.
