OWINGS MILLS, Md – In the opener of a three-game series, Hood scored three times in the final two innings as the Blazers (4-10, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) defeated Stevenson (3-8, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) 5-1 on Friday at The Yard.
Stevenson's lone run came in the fourth as Sam Batiancila flied out to right, scoring Dalton Reinhart.
Collin Palmieri had two hits on the day on three plate appearances, while Nick Griffin, Vincent Licor and Brandon Perillo also hit safely.
Zane Stone look the loss, falling to 2-2 as he threw 4.1 innings allowing just one earned run. He struck out four and walked two. Sommers Turner struck out three and allowed three runs in 4.2 innings of work.
Stevenson and Hood will continue their series Saturday in a doubleheader, hosted by Hood at Mount Saint Mary's.
