EMMITSBURG, Md. – Stevenson pitcher John Delgado threw a complete game three-hitter as the Mustangs defeated Hood in the opening game of a doubleheader on Saturday, by a 6-1 score.
The Blazers (5-11, 2-1 MACC) took game two of the doubleheader from the Mustangs (5-12, 1-2 MACC) 14-4.
In game one, Delgado struck out 11 and walked just one on 101 pitches while allowing just one run (unearned). He also pitched an immaculate innings in the first, retiring the side on nine straight strikes.
Collin Palmieri had two hits on the day, while Dalton Reinhart and Sam Batiancila both hit safely for the Mustangs.
Stevenson scored five runs in the second, as Batiancila scored on an error, with Connor Wilkerson scoring on a bases-loaded walk by Kaige Garrity.
Reinhart hit a sacrifice to center scoring Graham Sears for the third run of the inning, followed by Palmieri's single to center scoring Christopher Manco. Garrity would later score on a wild pitch.
In the fifth, Jaylon Surell hit a sacrifice to center scoring John Padousis.
In game two, Stevenson took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Batiancila hit a three-run home run to left scoring Sears and Reinhart.
Garrity and Reinhart each had two hits in the loss, with Zack Majeski, Matt Perri and Michael McGarry all hit safely.
Jake Treasure took the loss, while Brendan Phillips, Carl Sansbury and Matt Gordon all pitching in relief.
Stevenson heads to Gettysburg on Wednesday.
