No. 19 Mustangs dealt loss by No. 11 Gettysburg

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 19 Stevenson men's lacrosse squad (3-2) fell 6-15 to the No. 11 Gettysburg College Bullets on Saturday evening in Mustang Stadium. Gavin Gossen led the Mustangs with a three-point night with a goal and two assists. 
 
The Mustangs opened scoring with an unassisted goal from Hunter Bryant with just under 14 minutes into the game. The Bullets then responded on a three-goal run to finish the first quarter leading 3-1. Stevenson came out hot in the second quarter as Darrell Curtis put a goal about five minutes in, and Gavin Gossen made it a 3-3 game four minutes later. Gettysburg then put three more goals away to register a 6-3 lead at half time. 
 
The Bullets opened scoring in the second half with a goal less than a minute into the third quarter to make it a 7-3 game. Max Racich responded with Stevenson's fourth goal off a pass from Grant Zick, but Gettysburg followed with four-goal string before Racich could net another goal for the Mustangs with an assist from Gossen. Gettysburg responded 30 seconds later, and with only a second left on the clock and slotted the 12-5 lead. 
 
Gettysburg put their 13th goal away to begin the fourth quarter, followed by a goal from Andrew Searing with another Gossen assist. The Bullets managed to net two more goals in the final quarter to cap off the 15-6 win over Stevenson. 
 
Gossen had a three-point evening, while Curtis and Racich each slotted two. Curtis tallied a goal and an assist, as Racich netted two goals. Bryant and Searing each put away a goal on the evening as Zick dished out an assist. Nine Mustangs picked up two ground balls in the contest as four caused a turnover. Tyler Merchant took on the Bullets in goal for Stevenson and made eight saves on the night. 
 
The Mustangs will prepare to travel to Carlisle, Pa. on Saturday, Mar. 8 to face No. 14 Dickinson. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
