Six Mustangs record goals in 6-2 MAC victory at Misericordia

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Hockey traveled to Misericordia University this evening to face off against the Cougars for the final time this regular season. Though the first period ended in a 2-2 tie, the Mustangs would power through for four additional goals to earn the 6-2 MAC victory.

Misericordia was first on the scoresheet, but their lead did not last long thanks to senior Evan Beers. His third goal of the season was assisted by juniors Caden Smith and Blake Benson on the power-play.

Stevenson's second goal of the evening was provided by senior Liam McCanney, accounting for his 13th goal of the season. Assisting McCanney were classmate Nick Dineen and sophomore Matt Yeager for their third and fifth assists of the year, respectively.

Misericordia was able to capitalize once more in the period's final 30 seconds, but this would prove to be their final offensive success of the night.

The Mustangs started the second period off strong, seeing goals from junior Aidan McDowell and senior Kyle Lightfoot. McDowell's second goal of the season was assisted by seniors Liam McCanney and Dylan Florit while Lightfoot's score was a solo effort.

To round out the period, senior Graeme McCrory found the back of the net for the fourth time this season, once more assisted by McCanney and Florit. The goal was the Mustangs' third power-play goal of the evening, and they would finish 3-for-5 on the night.

Junior Blake Benson rounded out the Stevenson scoring spree, notching the Mustangs' fourth straight to start the third period. Benson cited assists from classmates Jack Karlsson and John Musella.

In the circle, Graeme McCrory went 15-for-20, followed by Dylan Florit with nine wins. In net, junior Ford DeLoss made 26 stops, including ten in the opening period.

The win puts the Mustangs at 13-6-2 overall and 10-5-2 in MAC play. They will travel to Neumann University on Wednesday, February 12th to make up their contest with the Knights.
