Men’s Lacrosse snags win against Catholic under the lights

OWINGS MILLS, Md.— The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (3-1) slot a 22-11 win over Catholic on Wednesday night. During the match up, Max Racich registered his 100th point in the contest. 
 
Darrell Curtis opened scoring in the contest off a ball from Jack Scaliti to put the Mustangs on the board just over 30 seconds into the game. The Cardinals tied the game about six minutes later. Grant Zick put away a second goal, but Catholic responded to make it a 2-2 game. 
 
In the second quarter, the Mustangs came out with a five-goal run. Andrew Searing put away the third goals for Stevenson, as Gavin Gossen followed to make it a 4-2 game. Zick put a fifth goal up for Stevenson, as Max Racich followed with the sixth. Curtis capped off the five-goal run with 6:40 on the clock to slot the 7-2 lead. The Cardinals then put up a three-goal string, but Scaliti and Curtis shut them down with a goal each to slot the 9-5 lead at half time.
 
Racich put the tenth goal away for Stevenson off a pass from Scaliti to open the second half. As Catholic replied with a three-goal string, before a goal from Gossen and Sacliti and two from Hunter Bryant to put the Mustangs up 14-8. The Cardinals responded with their ninth goal, but Zick put one more goal away to make it a 15-9 game at the end of the third.
 
In the fourth, Curtis netted three goals to put Stevenson up 18-9, Catholic responded by putting up their tenth goal, but the Mustangs responded with four more. Max Racich put away a goal at 8:12 to secure his 100thcareer-point, as Searing followed with two more goals. Curtis put the final goal away for Stevenson just under five minutes left in the game, as the Cardinals put one away, but the Mustangs secured the 22-11 win. 
 
Curtis led Stevenson with a seven-goal night, as Scaliti and Zick each had a six-point evening. Scaliti netted two goals with four assists, as Zick grabbed three goals and three assists. Gossen posted a five-point night with two goals and three assists, as Racich and Searing both put up hattricks. Connor Dunay picked up nine ground balls while winning 23 of 35 faceoffs. Tyler Merchant stood in goal making 10 saves for Stevenson. 
 
Stevenson will prepare to face No. 11 Gettysburg under the lights on Saturday night. First face-off is set for 7 p.m.
