ABERDEEN, Md. – The Stevenson University baseball team won its first game of the season on Saturday, taking down Notre Dame of Maryland University 12-9 at the Ripken Complex.
The Mustangs set a school record with 14 stolen bases in the contest against the Gators, who were playing its first game in school history.
Brandon Perillo and
Christopher Manco each had two hits, along with
Dalton Reinhart as the Mustangs collected 11 hits. Reinhart and Manco had doubles while Manco had three RBI.
Kaige Garrity was hot on the base paths as he stole five bases on the afternoon, while getting two hits and two runs scored.
Zane Stone picked up the win, his first of the season as he pitched three innings in relief of
Jake Treasure. Stone allowed six hits over three innings of work.
Brendan Phillips went 2.2 innings allowing just two hits, while
Ari Lonstein got a save by striking out the potential tying run at bat.
Reinhart's two-out double in the ninth allowed the Mustangs to go up three at 12-9.
Stevenson led 10-4 after four innings, before the Gators plated two in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
The Mustangs host PSU-Harrisburg on Sunday at Blendair Park in Columbia, Md.
