Women’s basketball handed road loss from Albright, Wynter Registers Double-Double

READING, Pa. – The Stevenson women's basketball team (8-15 Overall, 3-9 MAC Commonwealth) fell to the Albright Lions on Saturday 51-58 in MAC Commonwealth action. Kalea Wynter led the points and rebounds column for Stevenson, posting a career-high of both 15 points and 13 rebounds in the contest for a double-double. 
 
Albright opened scoring on the morning with the first two baskets of the contest. Janiya Ennis and Nadia Ferguson replied netting a basket each to make it a 4-4 game, before Albright went on an eight-point streak. The Mustangs continued fighting, as the Lions slated a three-point lead heading into the second quarter. With 8:15 on the clock in the second quarter, Ennis put up a free-throw to make it a 16-16 match. The Lions replied and retook the lead, but the Mustangs stayed on their heels as Janie Smith put up a layup with about a minute left in the half to slot a 26-25 lead for Stevenson. 
 
The Lions came out to start off the second half with six straight points. Stevenson continued to push, but Albright put up a 17-point quarter while holding Stevenson to 11 points to register a 37-42 game. In the final quarter, the Lions went on an eight-point run until Wynter put up a layup and free-throw to get the Mustangs back on the board. Despite Stevenson's efforts, Albright continued to produce offensively and grabbed the 51-58 win. 
 
Wynter registered a career-high of 15 points on the afternoon, while snatching a career-high of 13 rebounds for a double-double. Smith followed with a 10-point game with four assists and a block. Tessa Boswell put up eight points in the contest while grabbing 10 rebounds and led the squad with three steals. 
 
The Mustangs will prepare to host No. 15 Messiah on Tuesday evening. The contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m. in Owings Mills Gymnasium.
