OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University men's basketball senior Cam Smith became the program's 12
th player to reach 1,000 career points on Monday, as the Mustangs (8-14, 2-8 MAC Commonwealth) dropped an 89-84 decision to Eastern.
Smith, needing four coming into the game, scored 20 points and his 1,000
th career point came with 12:39 left in the first half on a layup.
Cameron Sapienza had 23 points for the Mustangs, who played without leading scorer
Mason Jones who was sidelined with an injury.
Joey Lutz netted 14 for Stevenson.
Eastern put six players in double figures paced by 16 from Connor Fleet and 13 each from Zubair Lee and Nick Mate.
For Stevenson,
Zach Bolgert grabbed a team-high nine rebounds with Sapienza having five assists. He also nabbed three steals.
Stevenson will host Hood on Wednesday.
