REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Men's Hockey rounded out their weekend with a matchup against Wilkes University after yesterday's meeting with King's. After a scoreless first period, the Mustangs scored in the second and third to lock in a 2-0 MAC victory.
The Mustangs outshot the Colonels 12-9 in the first and added another 13 in the second. One of Stevenson's 13 found the back of the net thanks to senior Evan Beers, who notched his second goal of the season by collecting a rebound off of classmate Liam McCanney's shot. Sophomore Matt Yeager made the initial pass to McCanney, giving them their fourth and fifth assists on the season, respectively.
Wilkes was granted a power-play in the latter half of the third period, but the Mustangs held strong, doubling their lead as seniors Dylan Florit and Graeme McCrory sprung a two-on-one to earn the shorthanded goal. Florit's score was his third of the year while McCrory's assist was his sixth.
McCrory also went a game-best 11-for-17 in the circle, followed by junior John Musella with eight wins.
In net, junior Ford DeLoss totaled 23 stops for the shutout, including nine in the third period to shutdown a Colonels comeback attempt.
The win puts the Mustangs at 12-6-2 overall and 9-5-2 in conference play. They take to the road next weekend to face Misericordia and Neumann Universities on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th.
