Men's Basketball tames Pride, 81-74

CHESTER, Pa. – The Stevenson University men's basketball team started the second half of MAC Commonwealth Conference play in fine fashion on Saturday with a hard fought 81-74 win over Widener.

Mason Jones had 16 points for Stevenson (8-11, 2-6 MAC Commonwealth) while Ronald Ayers had 13 points. The win snapped a four-game skid against Widener.

Zach Bolgert came off the bench and scored 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting including two three-pointers.

Jones and Cameron Smith each had six rebounds, with Ayers and Myles Jackson each dishing out four assists.

Kevin Schenk had 25 points for Widener, with Luke Mazur getting 14.

Stevenson, who led by as much as ten in the second half, fended off a late Pride (5-14 3-5 MAC Commonwealth) rally as Widener got within two at 68-66 with 3:04 left. A basket by Smith and two foul shots by Kole Beaman rebuild the lead to 72-66 with 1:49 left.

Stevenson heads to York on Wednesday.
