REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson men's ice hockey team (6-4-0 overall, 5-1-0 MAC) earned a 3-2 overtime victory over Wilkes (7-2-2 overall, 4-2-1 MAC) on Friday evening.
Connor MacDonell opened the scoring just 2:26 into the first period with assists from Gage Parillo and Keenan Schneider to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, John Musella extended the advantage on the power play, with Greg Spitznagel and Jack Karlsson picking up the helpers. Wilkes responded with two goals in the third period to even the score and send the game into overtime.
In the extra frame, Aiden Lindley sealed the win with 19.8 seconds remaining, finishing a feed from Aidan McDowell to secure the 3-2 victory.
Five Mustangs recorded one point on the night. Stevenson outshot Wilkes 47-27 and held a 37-26 edge in the faceoff circle. Goaltender Louis Finnegan earned the win with 25 saves.
Stevenson returns to action Saturday for the second game of the weekend series against Wilkes. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
