Berea, Ohio (December 29) - The Stevenson Mustangs opened play at the BW Classic Holiday Tournament on Monday afternoon, falling 73–36 to host Baldwin Wallace in the opening round of the two-day event.
Stevenson came out with energy in the opening minutes, focusing on defensive communication and working to establish offensive rhythm. The Mustangs looked to push the tempo when opportunities arose and battled on the glass to limit second-chance points. Early defensive stops helped Stevenson stay engaged as they worked through Baldwin Wallace's pressure.
As the first half progressed, Baldwin Wallace was able to string together scoring runs, but the Mustangs continued to fight, showing disciplined ball movement and attacking inside when openings appeared. Stevenson closed the half competing on every possession, emphasizing effort and execution heading into the locker room with
Nadia Ferguson scoring the last bucket of the 11-35 score.
Coming out of halftime, Stevenson maintained its defensive intensity and continued to challenge Baldwin Wallace on both ends of the floor. The Mustangs shared the ball well and looked to generate quality looks, while staying committed defensively despite the mounting score.
In the closing minutes, Stevenson continued to battle and play together, highlighting the team's perseverance and focus throughout the full 40 minutes, but fell to a 37-point difference.
Stevenson will look to bounce back in its next contest against Oberlin College on Tuesday, December 30, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
