NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Stevenson men's ice hockey team (5-4) fell 4-3 in overtime to SUNY Plattsburgh (4-4) on Friday evening.
Carson Galin opened the scoring in the seventh minute off assists from Matt Yeager and Jack Costabile. Plattsburgh tied the contest at the 17:30 mark, but Yeager restored the lead with 45 seconds remaining in the first period on helpers from Matt Gough and Aidan McDowell.
Blake Benson extended the Mustangs' advantage to 3-1 early in the second period, but the Cardinals responded with two goals to bring the game even at 3-3. After a scoreless third period, the teams headed to overtime, where Plattsburgh netted the game-winner at 3:06.
Costabile and Yeager each notched two-point performances, while Benson, Galin, Gough, and Caden Smith added one point apiece. Ford DeLoss recorded 28 saves in goal.
The Mustangs return to MAC play on Friday when they host Wilkes at Reisterstown Sportsplex. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
