YORK, Pa. -
Denise Martinez secured both top five finishes for Stevenson, as they stay in sixth after day two of the Spartan Invitational.
The Mustangs entered day two in sixth with 125 points, sitting above Hood College and in reaching distance of Elizabethtown College and Widener University.Â
Day two started with the 200-yard Medley Relay where Stevenson swimmers Martinez,
Olivia Jansen,
Alexa Darak, and
Laila Umrani-Sanders swam a season-best 1:56.09 securing sixth place.
The next event a Mustang appeared in was the 100-yard Butterfly, after no swimmer qualified for the final of the 400-yard IM. Martinez secured fourth place with a career-best and team season-best time of 1:02.86.Â
Eryn O'Brien was the lone Stevenson swimmer to qualify for the finals of the 200-yard Freestyle recording a time of 2:09.37, setting a new season-best for herself.
O'Brien's performance was followed by
Sophia Schultze in the 100-yard Breaststroke. Schultze swam a 1:11.45 in the preliminary heat, setting a new team and personal season-best, and was .36 seconds off a career-best.
In the 100-yard Backstoke Martinez returned to the pool securing a podium position, finishing .10 seconds off her career-best. Her time of 1:01.51 secured a third place finish.
In the final event of day two, Stevenson swimmers
Jordan Terrell,
Claire Price, O'Brien, and
Charlotte Forte finished in sixth place during the 800-yard Freestyle Relay.
The Mustangs will return to the pool tomorrow for the final day of the Spartan Invitational.Â
