YORK, Pa. - The Mustangs grab one top five finish through the first day of the Spartan Invitational after they totaled 125 points.
Stevenson started on a high note in York. They secured a fifth place finish during the first event, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.
Laila Umrani-Sanders,
Natalie Kent,
Alexa Darak, and
Denise Martinez swam a season-best 1:46.28 and secured the best finish of day one.
Charlotte Forte and
Olivia Jansen would place the highest of any Mustang in the next two events, the 500-yard Freestyle and 200-yard IM, and finished eight and seventh respectively.
Forte's 5:34.03, swam in the preliminary heat of the 500 Free, sets a new season-best for Stevenson, while Jansen's 2:22.90 recorded time during the 200 IM is also a season-best for her team.
Umrani-Sanders placed the highest in the final individual event of the day, the 50-yard Freestyle, with an eight place time of 26.12.Â
The Mustangs concluded day one with a sixth place finish in the 400-yard Medley Relay. Martinez, Jansen, Darak, and Umrani-Sanders swam a 4:18.89.Â
Stevenson sit 98 points behind the current leaders, York College (Pa.), with two more days of competition ahead of them.Â
