Men’s Basketball Closes Out Mustang Classic with Strong Tournament Victory Over Hartwick

Owings Mills, Md. (November 15) - Men's Basketball wrapped up the Mustang Classic with an impressive 80-63 victory, using energy, tempo, and timely execution to control the game from start to finish. With strong showings from both veterans and emerging standouts, Stevenson closed the weekend on a high note and continued to build its early-season momentum.

Stevenson struck first, opening the game with a sharp offensive possession that led to a smooth finish at the rim by Myles Jackson. Moments later, Jackson pushed the pace off a defensive rebound, threading a pass to a cutting teammate for an easy layup that gave the Mustangs their first multi-possession lead of the day.

The defense followed suit. Midway through the first half, Noah Ihezue ignited the home crowd with a strong block off the backboard, then sprinted down the floor to finish a transition basket that capped a 7–0 Mustang run. That sequence helped Stevenson settle into a rhythm, and by halftime, they had established control of both tempo and momentum.

The second half opened with another statement play: Jackson drilled a pull-up jumper at the free-throw line, then stole the ball on the next defensive possession to create a fast-break opportunity. His ability to create scoring chances on both ends helped the Mustangs maintain their lead as the pressure increased.

Eastern attempted to chip away, but each push was answered. Ihezue cleaned up the glass with multiple offensive rebounds, including a key put-back that stopped an opposing run and reignited the Stevenson offense. With Jackson distributing and knocking down timely shots, the Mustangs regained separation entering the final minutes.

A late stretch of crisp ball movement sealed the win. Stevenson connected on back-to-back baskets inside, followed by a transition finish after a defensive stop, putting the game out of reach and closing the tournament in dominant fashion.

By the end of the weekend, Ihezue earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, while M. Jackson claimed Mustang Classic MVP honors.

Next up, the Mustangs hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to St. Mary's College on Saturday, November 22 at 3:00 p.m. as they look to keep their momentum rolling.
