Owings Mills, Md. (November 14) – The Stevenson men's basketball team stayed perfect on the season, using a fast start and consistent offensive pressure to defeat Penn State Brandywine, 78–59, on Friday night in Owings Mills Gymnasium. The win improves the Mustangs to 3–0 and sends them to the Mustang Classic championship game against Hartwick on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
Stevenson established control early behind its perimeter shooting.
Noah Ihezue opened the scoring with back-to-back threes, and shortly after, a transition triple pushed the Mustangs ahead 9–3 and forced Brandywine into an early timeout. The Mustangs kept the pace high, with
Myles Jackson knocking down a jumper and
Andre Brooks connecting from deep as the lead stretched into double digits.
Kole Beaman gave the Mustangs another lift midway through the half, hitting a pair of threes and helping Stevenson maintain full command of the tempo. Brooks later added his second triple of the night, and Stevenson closed the half strong to take a 41–25 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, Brandywine tried to cut into the deficit, but each push was met with a Stevenson answer. Beaman continued his hot shooting with another three, and Ihezue and
Kendall Seguignol controlled the boards to limit second chances. A late layup from
Kyle Luddy and another Brooks three kept the margin comfortable as Stevenson sealed the win.
Beaman paced the Mustangs with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Ihezue added 14 and Brooks posted 11. Seguignol contributed 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds as Stevenson knocked down 16 threes and out rebounded Brandywine 37–21—both key factors in the victory.
With the win, Stevenson advances to the Mustang Classic title game and will face Hartwick on Saturday, November 15 at 4:00 p.m. as they look to claim the tournament crown on their home floor.
