Owings Mills, Md. (November 1) – The Stevenson football team capped off its annual Military Appreciation Day with a statement victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchman 15–13 at Mustang Stadium. The win pushes the Mustangs to 5–3 overall and 4–3 in MAC play, as they continue their second-half push of the season.
After a defensive opening quarter, Stevenson broke through early in the second. Senior quarterback
Jordan Adams orchestrated a methodical 13-play, 79-yard drive that consumed nearly seven minutes of game time, culminating in an eight-yard touchdown pass to freshman
Noah Robinson. The score marked Robinson's first collegiate touchdown and gave the Mustangs early momentum.
Lebanon Valley responded quickly on its next possession, one-upping the the score with a short rushing touchdown by Trey Freeman. Both defenses tightened for the remainder of the half, as the teams entered the break in a low-scoring, physical contest.
The Mustangs regained control in the third quarter. Freshman kicker
Micah Veilleux confidently split the uprights from 33 yards out to give Stevenson a 9–7 advantage. The defense then took over, with standout performances from
Ethan Marshall, who led the team with nine tackles, and
Terae Franklin, who recorded a sack and multiple tackles for loss to help neutralize the Flying Dutchmen offense.
Early in the fourth quarter, Stevenson extended its lead when quarterback
Todd Lattimore found junior wide receiver
Dillon Johnson streaking down the sideline for a 34-yard touchdown, pushing the score to 15–7. Lebanon Valley managed to close the gap with a quick touchdown strike midway through the quarter, but the Mustang defense held firm in the closing moments. With just seconds remaining, the Flying Dutchmen's potential game-winning 29-yard field goal attempt sailed wide, sealing the Stevenson victory.
Offensively,
Louis Clouser anchored the ground attack with 145 rushing yards on 29 carries, setting the tone for a balanced Mustang offense that totaled 358 yards on the day. Johnson finished with 65 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Robinson added 67 yards on five receptions.
The Mustangs controlled the tempo throughout the contest, holding the ball for more than 33 minutes of possession and converting 9 of 14 third downs. Defensively, Stevenson limited Lebanon Valley to just two red-zone scores and forced a critical late-game miss that preserved the win.
With the victory, Stevenson hopes to continue its momentum heading into the home stretch of the season. The Mustangs will hit the road next weekend to face Albright College on Saturday, November 8, with kickoff set for noon.
