Women's Volleyball Dominates York (Pa.) in Straight Sets to Stay Perfect in Conference Play

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (October 8) – The Stevenson women's volleyball team hosted the Spartans of York College (Pa.) on Tuesday night for their first home MAC Commonwealth matchup of the season, earning a clean 3-0 sweep to remain perfect in conference play at 3-0.

The Mustangs won by identical set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-19.

Set 1:
After conceding the first few points to York, Stevenson quickly found its rhythm to even the score at 10-10. A series of kills from Giulia Viglietta helped the Mustangs gain momentum through multiple ties until they broke away at 16-16 with a dominant 9-3 run to close the set, 25-19.

Set 2:
With energy carrying over from the opening set, Stevenson jumped ahead early, 6-3. York adjusted well to the Owings Mills Gymnasium atmosphere, pulling within one at 16-15 before the Mustangs took a timeout to regroup. Out of the break, Stevenson refocused and pulled away, sealing the set on a Rachel Lenz kill for another 25-19 win.

Set 3:
Both sides settled into the match early, trading points to a 5-5 tie. The Mustangs once again showed their composure, fueled by key kills from Sydney Salazar and Lenz, to pull ahead and finish strong with a third consecutive 25-19 victory — securing the 3-0 match sweep.

The Mustangs will return to action this weekend, October 11–12, for a two-day quad match, opening play on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Virginia Wesleyan.
