Lexington, Ky. (October 30) – Stevenson University women's volleyball senior Adriana Anderson has been recognized as one of the 2025 honorees of the AVCA–The Marines Battles Won Award, presented by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the United States Marine Corps.

The Battles Won Award honors student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional leadership, resilience, and strength both on and off the court—qualities that embody the Marine Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment. This award recognizes volleyball players and coaches who have faced and overcome obstacles, showcasing determination and perseverance in all aspects of life.

Now in its third year, the AVCA gathered nominations from across the country and is proud to present the stories of 16 individuals—five coaches and 11 players—within the volleyball community who have faced hardships and come back strong. Their stories are being shared over six weeks this fall, highlighting those who are redefining courage. At the AVCA Convention in Kansas City this December, two of the honorees will be presented with the 2025 AVCA–The Marines Battles Won Award.

Anderson has been a role model for her teammates and the Stevenson community, consistently showing her resilience, work ethic, and leadership both on and off the court. Her recognition by the AVCA highlights the lasting impact she has made throughout her collegiate career and beyond.

Anderson's honor places her among a select group of volleyball student-athletes nationwide who have been recognized for their ability to overcome challenges and inspire others through their journey.
