GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Stevenson field hockey team (10-1) earned a dominant 5-0 victory over Arcadia (2-8) on Friday night under the lights.
Lauren Schulz opened the scoring in the fourth minute, finding the back of the cage off an assist from Shae Bennett to give the Mustangs an early 1-0 advantage. After a competitive stretch of play, Gracyn Catalano doubled the lead in the 29th minute with her first goal of the evening, assisted by Taylor Valoczki. Stevenson carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Catalano struck again early in the third quarter, netting an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute. Bennett added to the tally four minutes later, finishing a feed from Kailen Hibshman to extend the lead to four. Catalano completed her hat trick in the fourth quarter, scoring her third goal of the match off another assist from Bennett to seal the 5-0 victory.
The Mustangs outshot the Knights 21-5 overall and held an 11-0 advantage in shots on goal. Catalano led the offense with six points on three goals, while Bennett tallied four points with a goal and two assists. Schulz recorded two points from her goal, while Valoczki and Hibshman each added an assist. Goalkeepers Jordan Vradenburgh and Ollie Winterle split time in cage, combining for the shutout without facing a shot.
Stevenson returns home to face No. 9 Stevens on Wednesday afternoon. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Owings Mills East.
