Doylestown, Pa. (October 25) - The Stevenson Mustang's football team put together one of its most complete offensive performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, battling all the way to the wire before falling just short against Delaware Valley, 41–38, at James Work Memorial Stadium.
The Mustangs dominated the first three quarters, out gaining the Aggies 399–361 and controlling possession for more than 41 minutes. Stevenson's ground game was relentless—led by senior running back
Louis Clouser, who carried the ball 33 times for 168 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback
Jordan Adams added 52 rushing yards and a score, while also connecting with
Ryan McClain on an 11-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Stevenson's offense found its rhythm early, stringing together five scoring drives through the first three quarters.
Guiliano Scavetta's three-yard touchdown run in the first quarter tied the game at 7–7, and
Sam McKinney capped a late first-half drive with a 12-yard field goal to send the Mustangs into halftime with a 17–14 lead.
The third quarter belonged to Stevenson. Adams powered in from a yard out to extend the lead, followed by touchdowns from Clouser and
Seth Parker—Parker's 22-yard burst giving the Mustangs a 38–21 advantage.
Defensively,
Daryus Henderson and
Darius Jones anchored a resilient unit, combining for 15 tackles and multiple key stops that kept Delaware Valley's offense in check for much of the day.
Although the Aggies mounted a late comeback in the fourth quarter, Stevenson's balanced attack and relentless effort set the tone for much of the contest. With 268 rushing yards, 28 first downs, and a perfect 5-for-5 mark in the red zone, the Mustangs showcased the toughness and execution till the end.
The Mustangs return home next week looking to host Lebanon Valley for Military Appreciation, with a 1 p.m. kick-off.
