Tobin Sparks No. 19 Mustangs in Win Over No. 23 Spartans

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 20 Stevenson field hockey team (13-2, 3-1 MACC) edged York (Pa.) (9-5, 3-1 MACC) 1-0 on Wednesday evening.

The Spartans controlled much of the first half, outshooting Stevenson 2-0, but the Mustangs came out strong after the break. In the 37th minute, Lauren Tobin broke through during a scramble in the circle to put Stevenson on the board. Despite York's late offensive push, the Mustang defense held firm to secure the shutout victory.

The Spartans outshot Stevenson 7-3 overall, though the Mustangs held a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. Jordan Vradenburgh stopped both attempts she faced to earn the clean sheet.

Stevenson will look to carry its momentum into Saturday's match up against Alvernia, scheduled for 5 p.m.
