OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 20 Stevenson field hockey team (12-2 overall, 1-1 MACC) fell in a tough 2-1 overtime battle to Messiah (6-6 overall, 2-0 MACC) on Wednesday evening.
Shae Bennett put the Mustangs on the board early, scoring in the 6th minute off a feed from Sydney Aylward to give Stevenson a 1-0 advantage in the first half. The Falcons evened the match in the 38th minute, sending the game into overtime. In the 62nd minute, Messiah capitalized to secure the 2-1 victory.
The Mustangs were narrowly outshot 11-9 overall and 6-5 on goal. Bennett recorded a two-point night with her goal, while Aylward added an assist and a defensive save. Jordan Vradenburgh tallied three saves in the contest.
Stevenson now turns its focus to Friday's Homecoming matchup against Eastern. The game is set for 5 p.m. on Owings Mills East.
