OWINGS MILLS, Md. –The Stevenson men's soccer team (7-4-2 overall, 1-0-1 MACC) earned a 2-0 victory over McDaniel (6-3-3 overall, 1-1-3 CC) on Wednesday evening.
The Mustangs controlled the pace early, outshooting the Green Terror 6-2 in the first half, but despite several strong opportunities, the teams went into halftime scoreless.
Gianfranco Vitella broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, converting a cross from Blest Dumbuya to give Stevenson the lead. In the 85th minute, Ellis Amo added an insurance goal off an assist from Vitella to seal the 2-0 win.
Stevenson held the offensive advantage throughout the match, outshooting McDaniel 14-5 overall and 6-1 on goal. Vitella led the Mustangs with a three-point performance, recording a goal and an assist, while Amo finished with two points and Dumbuya added one assist. Goalkeeper Nolen Olson-Warwick earned the shutout, making one save in the victory.
The Mustangs return to MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday, hosting Widener for their Homecoming match on Owings Mills East at 7 p.m.
