Late Surge by King’s (Pa.) Spoils Strong Offensive Night for Football, 35–28

Owings Mills, Md (October 10) – In a hard-fought MAC Commonwealth match up under the Friday night lights at Mustang Stadium, the Stevenson Mustangs battled wire-to-wire before narrowly falling 35–28 to King's (Pa.) despite an explosive performance through the air and a commanding presence on offense.

Senior quarterback Jordan Adams put together one of his best games of the season, throwing for 300 yards and four touchdowns while completing 26 of 38 passes. Adams spread the ball efficiently to his targets, finding Dillon Johnson (8 receptions, 87 yards, 1 TD), Stephen Tatum (6 catches, 79 yards, 1 TD), Ryan McClain (3 receptions, 74 yards, 1 TD), and Anthony Rodriguez (21-yard TD catch). Louis Clouser controlled the run game for the Mustangs with 74 yards on 18 carries.

After falling behind early, Stevenson's offense caught fire midway through the first quarter when Adams hit Johnson on a 24-yard strike to tie the game 7–7. Minutes later, he found McClain on a 19-yard fade to the corner to even things at 14–14. The Mustangs kept momentum in the second quarter with a poised 10-play, 51-yard drive capped by Tatum's 10-yard touchdown catch, giving Stevenson a 21–14 advantage.

King's managed to tie things up before halftime, but Stevenson regained control in the third quarter. Adams led a 12-play, 73-yard march that ended with a laser to Rodriguez, putting the Mustangs back in front 28–21.

Defensively, Dominick Marino led the unit with eight total tackles, while Victor Achoronye added 1.5 sacks and Daryus Henderson snagged an interception. The defensive line, anchored by Thomas Fisher and Terae Franklin, applied consistent pressure and helped block a King's field goal attempt in the fourth quarter.

Despite a valiant effort and 416 yards of total offense, Stevenson couldn't hold off the late rally by King's, falling just short even after a clutch 48-yard reception by Ryan McClain in the final seconds, as the Monarchs scored twice in the fourth quarter to edge ahead.

With the result for the first loss of the season, the Mustangs move to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in MAC play, maintaining their spot near the top of the conference standings. Stevenson will look to bounce back next weekend for Homecoming as they host Misericordia for 1 PM MAC action.
