Owings Mills, Md. (October 1) – The Stevenson men's soccer team opened the month of October in commanding fashion, cruising past non-conference opponent Susquehanna with a 5-0 victory Wednesday night.
The Mustangs controlled possession from the outset, limiting the River Hawks to just one shot before breaking through in the 29th minute.
Zack Reightler netted the opening goal off a double assist from
PJ Cera and
Blest Dumbuya. Just one minute later,
Owen Haviland set up
Gianfranco Vitella to extend the lead to 2-0. Stevenson struck again just before halftime, as
Ryan Miller converted his first collegiate shot for his first collegiate goal, sending the Mustangs into the break ahead 3-0.
Miller carried the momentum into the second half, tallying his second career goal in the 56th minute. Moments later, Vitella added his second of the night to cap the scoring at 5-0 and seal the decisive win.
In goal,
Nolen Olson-Warwick made four saves in 77 minutes of action before giving way to
Kyle Burden, who stopped one shot in relief to complete the combined shutout.
The Mustangs return to the Owings Mills East pitch on Saturday, October 4, when they open MAC Commonwealth play against Alvernia at 1 p.m.
