Eight Mustangs net goals in 9-0 win over Lancaster Bible

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson field hockey squad (9-1) shut out Lancaster Bible (2-6) with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday evening. 

Kailen Hibshman opened scoring for the Mustangs at the 1:33 mark off a ball from Lauren Schulz. In the 5th minute, Hailey Mertz followed with a second goal for Stevenson with an assist from Abry Klinger. Taylor Valoczki and Annie Ingersoll each netted goals in the 10th minute to slot Stevenson a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

In the second and third quarter, Ava DiBonaventura put away an unassisted goal in the 24th minute, as Abry Klinger followed with the sixth goal for the Mustangs in the 39th minute. 

Vivian Merry netted her first collegiate goal 30 seconds into the fourth quarter off a feed from Stella Khazen. As Khazen followed with a goal in the 53rd minute with an assist from Marie Conway. Merry then capped off the 9-0 win with an assist from Molly Parker.

The Mustangs outshot the Chargers 21-4 overall, 16-3 on cage. Merry led the Mustangs with her four-point night off two goals as Mertz, Hibshman, Klinger, Ingersoll, Khazen, and DiBonaventura each netted a goal. Molly Parker had a two-point night from two assists, as Schulz, Klinger, Conway, Khazen, and Lauren Tobin all contributed an assist. Jordan Vradenburgh spent the first quarter in cage and made a stop, as Ollie Winterle made two saves in three quarters to earn the shut-out win. 

Stevenson will prepare to face Arcadia University away on Friday. The contest is set for 7 p.m.
