REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Men's Hockey hosted King's College (Pa.) tonight at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. King's got an early jump, building on it throughout the game to come away with a 5-2 win.
The Monarchs found the back of the net once in the first period before adding two more goals in the second. They began the third period with their fourth goal of the game, forcing the Mustangs to respond.
Senior Graeme McCrory notched his third goal on the year late in the third, citing assists from classmate Liam McCanney and sophomore Matt Yeager. The assists were McCanney and Yeager's fourth and third, respectively.
Just 18 seconds later, junior Blake Benson netted his tenth of the season to halve the deficit, giving classmate Caden Smith his fifth assist in the process.
The Monarchs took advantage of an empty net with under two minutes to go, sealing in their victory.
Benson led the Mustangs with six shots, followed by Smith with five. Yeager and senior Evan Beers contributed four shots apiece.
In the circle, junior John Musella won a game-high 13 draws and first year Aiden Lindley trailed with 11.
In net, junior Ford DeLoss and first year Jake Hugessen combined for 14 saves.
The Mustangs fall to 11-6-2 overall and 8-5-2 in the MAC. They play host to Wilkes University tomorrow at 3 p.m.
