GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Stevenson women's basketball team fell 51-76 to No. 18 Messiah on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons put up the first six points in the contest, until
Emori Jeselskis netted a layup just over two minutes in. Messiah continued to dominate offensively while holding the Mustangs back to post a 13-21 lead heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Falcons held Stevenson to 11 points, while netting 23, securing a 24-44 game at half time.
In the third quarter, the Mustangs were able to put up 15 points past the Messiah defense, but Messiah replied with 20 and held onto their large 39-64 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the Mustangs put up a strong defensive drive to hold the Falcons to only 12 points, but despite Stevenson's efforts in the fourth quarter, the squad fell 51-76 to Messiah.
Janiya Ennis led Stevenson with a 20-point night with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Tessa Boswell registered 10 points on the evening while leading the team with seven rebounds, as
Nadia Ferguson netted nine points with two rebounds.
Kalea Wynter snatched five rebounds in the match up.
The Mustangs will stay on the road in Pa. and face Widener on Saturday. The MAC Commonwealth action is set to begin at 1 p.m.
