Mustangs earn weekend sweep over Lebanon Valley with 3-2 victory

HERSHEY, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Hockey rounded out their series with Lebanon Valley this afternoon at the Giant Center. The Mustangs would score once in each period to earn a 3-2 win and sweep the weekend.

Senior defenseman Evan Beers would notch his first goal and 12th point of the season with just over a minute to go in the first period, citing assists from classmate Aidan Graham and junior Caden Smith. The assists were both Graham and Smith's fourth on the year.

The Mustangs were back on the board halfway through the second thanks to first year Aidan O'Connell, who scored in a solo effort. The goal was O'Connell's second on the year.

Rounding out the Stevenson scoring spree was first year Aiden Lindley, who found the back of the net in the first half of the final period. Assisting Lindley were junior Connor MacDonell and senior Dylan Florit. Lindley's goal accounts for his third of the season while MacDonell and Florit's assist totals increase to two and 11, respectively.

Lebanon Valley made a late push, scoring two goals within the game's final two minutes, but the Mustangs were able to hold onto their lead to come away with their third straight victory.

Florit and Smith tied for a game-high 12 face-off victories, followed by Florit with eight.

In net, junior Ford DeLoss made 26 saves, 16 of which came in the third period.

The win puts the Mustangs at 11-5-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the MAC. They look to extend their win streak next weekend when they host King's College on Friday and Wilkes University on Saturday at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.
