OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's volleyball team opened its 2025 slate by hosting Eastern Mennonite and Juniata in a tri-match on Saturday.
In the opener, the Mustangs (4-2) defeated Eastern Mennonite 3-0 while falling to fifth-ranked Juniata in the nightcap 3-0.

Set scores in the opener were 25-15, 26-24 and 29-27. The Mustangs hit well in the first match of the day, going .252 (43-17-103) with a .375 mark (15-3-32) in the first set.
Ryan Thenell had 15 kills with
Tim Flanagan having 14.
Anthony Pezzino chipped in with nine.
Jacon Sledz had three aces, with Thenell getting two.
At the net,
Adam Sawyers had four blocks with
Doug Hines getting two. Hines had 36 assists while Thenell and
JD Sarmuksnis had ten digs each.
Juniata 3, Stevenson 0
Set scores against the Eagles (8-0) were 25=18, 25-20 and 25-16. Facing the Eagles for the second time in a week, the Mustangs hit .222 in the final set (11-5-27).
Flanagan had ten kills, with Thenell adding in eight.
Hines had 14 assists with
Connor Roth gathering seven.
Stevenson now has two weeks off, before taking to the road in a tri-match against Lancaster Bible and Geneva in Lancaster on February 9.
