ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Stevenson finished its season-opening four match road trip with a 3-1 win over Elizabethtown on Tuesday in men's volleyball non-conference action.
Set scores were 25-19, 13-25, 25-20 and 25-18.
Ryan Thenell led the way with 12 kills, with
Tim Flanagan having 11.
Anthony Pezzino chipped in with six.
Doug Hines had 24 assists on the night, while Flanagan had four aces.
Defensively,
Jackson Bones had ten digs.
In the first set, Stevenson led 15-13 and outscored the Blue Jays 7-3 capped by a Flanagan service to take a 22-16 lead and eventually won the set 25-19.
The second set saw Elizabethtown go on a 9-1 run after leading 4-3, with the Mustangs only able to get within eight the rest of the way.
In the third, a 7-1 Mustang ran broke open a 11-all tie and gave the Mustangs a 18-12 advantage with Thenell having two kills during the run.
Another scoring run, with the score again tied at 11-all, gave the Mustangs a 17-12 lead in the fourth set with Pezzino having a kill and a service ace during that run.
Stevenson hosts Eastern Mennonite and Juniata on Saturday.
