ASTON, Pa. - Stevenson Women's Hockey rounded out their MAC series with Neumann University this afternoon at IceWorks. The Mustangs found themselves on the wrong side of a one-goal game as the Knights earned the sweep.
The opening period came and went without a score as the Mustangs tallied 11 shots on goal. For Stevenson, junior Maggie Sehnert stopped all seven shots Neumann had to offer.
Neumann dominated the offense in the second period, notching 17 shots on goal as opposed to Stevenson's three. Sehnert came up big for 16 saves, though the Knights would find some luck in the period's final minute to give them the lead.
The Mustangs and Knights were neck and neck with offensive opportunities in the third, but neither team was able to capitalize.
Stevenson's offensive efforts were headed by sophomore Carleigh Barwick and first year Kira Otto, both of whom registered four shots on goal. Graduate student Katie May and junior Meghan Croyle trailed with three apiece.
Netminder Sehnert finished the game with 30 saves, bringing her season total to 130.
The loss puts the Mustangs at 4-10 on the season and 2-8 in MAC play. They look to earn some MAC points next weekend in their home series against King's College. Puck drop is scheduled for January 17th at 7 p.m. and January 18th at 3 p.m.
