OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's basketball team fell 55-71 to the Widener Pride in MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon.
Emori Jeselskis led the squad with 14 points on the afternoon, as
Tessa Boswell followed with a 10-point contest.
The Pride started off hot offensively putting up eight points before Boswell netted a three pointer with 7:48 on the clock. Jeselskis followed with five points and Boswell netted another three pointer to place Stevenson with an 11-8 lead. The Mustangs kept their foot on the gas for the rest of the first period to take a 22-14 lead heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Mustangs kept their lead until three minutes left in the half, when Widener put up five consecutive points to slot a 35-1 lead heading into half time
In the third period, Widener took off to and grew its lead by 10, heading into the final period 54-44. The Pride then pulled away to extend a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter to secure the 71-55 win over Stevenson.
Jeselskis had a 14-point afternoon with six rebounds as Boswell netted 10 points with seven rebounds.
Janiya Ennis and
Nadia Ferguson had a six-point contest, with two and three steals respectively.
Stephenae Lawrence had a five-point game, as
Sanaa Thorne grabbed five rebounds while contributing four points.
Stevenson will prepare to head up I-83 to face the York Spartans in MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday. The contest is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
