OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Widener University put five players in double figures as the Pride (3-10, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) handed Stevenson (6-7, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) 73-57 on Saturday afternoon in men's basketball play.
Myles Bright had 14 points for the Pride, while Matt Daulerio had ten points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Stevenson got 17 points from
Ronald Ayers, while
Mason Jones added in 12 points and nine rebounds.
Kole Beaman had nine points and six rebounds for Stevenson.
Trailing by 11 early, Stevenson got back into the game but could only cut the deficit to six several times including on a layup by
Bryson Whitley with 2:32 left in the half to cut it to 31-25.
Down 34-27 at intermission, Stevenson made a short run to get within three at 38-35 at the 16:40 mark of the second half when Ayers hit a jumper. However, Widener would maintain the lead throughout the second half and go up by as much as 22.
Stevenson hosts York on Wednesday.
