ASTON, Pa. - Stevenson Women's Hockey began the 2025 portion of their season this afternoon at Neumann University. A strong, three-goal first period from the Knights proved sufficient as the Mustangs' comeback fell short, giving Neumann the 4-2 win.
Neumann's offense came out hot, scoring 32 seconds into the game. The Mustangs would hold them off for the next half of the period before the Knights would capitalize on two straight power-plays.
Junior Meghan Croyle would cut Neumann's lead with an early goal in the second period, citing an assist from graduate student Franki Cappello.
Building off of the momentum created by Croyle, Cappello notched her first goal of the season, this time via Croyle and junior Maggie Dean. Croyle leads the Mustangs this season with 11 points on six goals and five assists, while Cappello trails with six points.
Though the Mustangs reduced the Knights' lead to just one goal, Neumann scored the lone goal of the third period to seal Stevenson's fate.
Croyle won nine draws in the circle, following sophomore Emma DeMan's ten victories.
In goal, senior Olivia DeGuire made 17 stops.
The Mustangs and Knights face off again tomorrow at 2 p.m.
