GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg handed the Stevenson University women's volleyball team a 3-1 setback on Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup.
Set scores were 25-19, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
Giulia Viglietta led the way for the Mustangs (3-1) with ten kills, as did
Zakara Masibo.
Rachel Lenz had seven. Masibo hit .364 in the match, while she and Viglietta each had four blocks.
Makala Thompson had 21 assists for Stevenson with
Samantha Simmers getting 12.
Kylie DesLauriers had four aces with
Nicolette Fuglestad getting netting three.
Defensively, Fuglestad had 17 digs with
Makala Thompson getting 13 and Simmers with 11.
The first set saw Stevenson rally from an early 13-9 deficit to the score at 13-all. However, the Bullets would go up 16-13 before the Mustangs tied the score again on a kill by Masibo at 16-all. Deadlocked at 18-all, the Bullets went up 21-19 and was able to hold the lead to take the first set.
A block assist by Masibo and Viglietta in the second set gave Stevenson a 10-9 lead, which was a lead that the Mustangs would hold for good. The Bullets would get to within one at 17-16, but, two kills by DesLauriers put the Mustangs up 19-16.
In the third set, Gettysburg went up 10-4, with Stevenson only managing to get back within three. The fourth set saw Stevenson rally from an early 4-0 deficit, before getting back in front and leading 22-21 on a kill by DesLauriers. Gettysburg however would score the final four points of the set to win the match.
Stevenson will host Arcadia, Salisbury and Gallaudet Friday and Saturday for the annual Quad Match. Stevenson will be Gallaudet on Friday at 5 p.m.
