WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Stevenson men's soccer (2-4-3) scored a late goal in the final seconds of the second half against the King's College Monarchs (3-3-2) on Saturday evening. The final was 1-0.
The Mustangs found three shots within the first 20 minutes. The first arrived just over two minutes into action from junior forward
Zack Reightler. Junior midfield
Gianfranco Vitella found the next chance, with Reightler following seven minutes later. One more attempt from junior midfield
Patrick Caulden with under five minutes remaining brought the teams to a scoreless half.
About 12 minutes into the second half, senior defense
Adam White made a push about a minute following a corner kick. As the Mustangs' offense gained traction, two more followed at the 73-minute mark from senior forward
Joey Brauer and first-year midfield
Reagan Hersh with both shots at goal six seconds apart. Caulden found the last attempt of the evening about four minutes later. Both Reightler and Caulden led the team with two shots with Reightler securing one on goal.
Senior defense
Bryant Seivers scored the lone goal of the evening with six seconds remaining in the half. His goal arrived with an assist from Vitella. In goal, junior Nolen Orson-Warwick made nine saves, bringing his season total to 38 for a .717 save percentage.
The Mustangs travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to take on the Susquehanna University River Hawks on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
