Mustangs Drop to Red Devils 1-0

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson men's soccer (1-4-3) allowed a penalty kick goal by the Dickinson Red Devils (8-0-1) on a sideways drizzling Wednesday evening. The final was 1-0.

Within the first five minutes, junior goalkeeper Nolen Orson-Warwick made his first save of the evening off a bottom center shot from Red Devil sophomore defense Jeremy Sallade. Following three more attempts by the opponent, a foul on senior forward Joey Brauer allowed a penalty kick for the Red Devils, resulting in the lone goal of the evening. Gaining offensive traction, sophomore midfield Blest Dumbuya and senior defense Bryant Seivers made net attempts but were saved. With about three minutes left, Olson-Warwick notched his second save on a shot from Red Devil junior forward Ethan Jarden.

Mirroring the first half, Olson-Warwick wasted no time picking up another save. Despite subsequent yellow cards for each team, graduate student midfield Eli Geist made an attempt before a card on the Red Devils at the 66 minute mark. Although both were saved, junior forward Nick Sirasky found an attempt a minute later. One last yellow card on sophomore forward Brian Rogowski subsequently ended the match with the Red Devils on top 1-0.

In goal for all 90 minutes, Olson-Warwick made 10 total saves on the evening, bringing his season total to 29.

Mustangs men's soccer hits the road next to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., when they take on the King's Monarchs on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.
