WILKES-BARRE, Pa – Stevenson women's soccer (0-0-1) had a second-half effort against the Kings' Monarchs (0-0-1), tying the game 1-1 in the season opener on the road.
In just under the first minute of play, sophomore midfield
Karly Sheahan had an attempt but a King's save thwarted her shot. The Mustangs found two more chances in the first half, with the second arriving just under 13 minutes into play off the foot of junior midfield

Ava Patterson made a save before the final shot attempt of the half. Sheahan had another attempt before the end of the half, ultimately giving the Monarchs their third save.

Kelly Schultz made a shot to the bottom right of the net which was ultimately saved about three minutes into the second half. Sophomore forward
Madison Rytina had the lone goal of the evening for the Mustangs about a minute later. Attempting to keep the lead, the Monarchs pushed on, with a shot less than two minutes later and then tying the game with just under 60 minutes into play. Mackenzie Click came just before the final whistle in the 1-1 tie.
Sheahan topped the team with three shots, all on goal, with the Mustangs totaling seven shots. In goal, Patterson played all 90 minutes made three saves on the evening.
The team will take on another opponent in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom, Delaware Valley, for the home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. on East Campus.
