OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University was swept in a doubleheader by the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday afternoon.
In game one, Stevenson rallied from a 6-0 deficit in the bottom of the seventh to score four runs before falling 6-4.
In game two, Stevenson (7-11) was held without a base runner in a 9-0 loss that went five innings.
In the opener, the Eagles (13-13) broke open a scoreless game in the fourth with two runs, then added in four more runs over the sixth and seventh innings to take a 6-0 lead.
In the seventh, Stevenson started the rally when
Maddie Bosley singled to center scoring
Maddie Buher for the first Mustang run.
Mykaela Getz would add the second run when she scored on a fielders choice by
Rebecca Henry. A wild pitch would then score Mackenzie Tobler while Henry would then score on a RBI groundout by
Rebecca Maiorano.
Ava Stafursky and Tobler had two hits each in the game, with Bosley, Maiorano and
Tessa Boswell all hitting safely.
Ky Vaughn went the distance, allowing five earned runs over seven innings.
In game two,
Grace Briggs took the loss in three innings, striking out one. Vaughn and
Molly Parker each pitched an inning in relief.
Stevenson jumps back into MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday, traveling to Alvernia.
