READING, Pa. – The Stevenson University softball team was swept by Alvernia on Saturday afternoon, dropping game one by a 9-8 score and then were defeated by the Golden Wolves 5-0 in the nightcap.
Game 1
Stevenson rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to take a 3-1 lead in the third inning as
McKenzie Tobler doubled home
Mykaela Getz and
Tessa Boswell. After Alvernia tied it in the third, Stevenson went back up 6-3 as
Maddie Bosley tripled to left scoring Getz and Boswell, followed by Bosley scoring on a RBI single by
Rebecca Maiorano.
Leading 6-5 in the sixth,
Rebecca Henry singled home Maiorano and Tobler for an 8-5 lead.
Alvernia, however, would played four runs in the seventh to take the win.
Maiorano, Boswell each had three hits, while Bosley,
Ava Stafursky and Getz each had two.
Ky Vaughn walked five in 6.1 innings of work.
Game 2
Alvernia scored two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth, while hosting Stevenson to just seven hits in game 2.
Maiorano and
Danielle Mills each had two hits in game two, while Stafursky, Henry and
Madi Hershey each had a hit.
Molly Parker struck out two and walked two in six innings of work.
Stevenson will host Susquehanna in non-conference play on Wednesday.
