OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Back home for Senior Day, the Stevenson University softball team split a pair of games with Albright on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
In the first game, the Mustangs were held scoreless in a 2-0 loss to the Lions, while the nightcap saw Stevenson (7-9, 4-4 MAC Commonwealth) break open the floodgates in a 12-4 win over the Lions (4-18, 1-7 MAC Commonwealth) in five innings.
In the opener, the lone runs of the game were scored in the third inning by the Lions on a fielding error. Stevenson was held to just five hits in the first game, with
Ava Stafursky having two of them.
Ky Vaughn took the loss, allowing just nine hits over the seven innings.
In game two, Stevenson rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the second by scoring six in the bottom of the second. Stevenson then added a run in the third and two more in the fourth and fifth to end the game early.
Maddie Bosley, one of three seniors honored after game two, had two hits with two runs scored and two RBI.
Rebecca Henry was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Rebecca Maiorano and
Tessa Boswell each had two hits in the win.
Grace Briggs got the win striking out two and allowing just two earned runs in five innings of work.
Bosley, MacKenzie Tobler and
Danielle Mills were honored after their game for their contributions as part of Senior Day.
