Mustangs open MAC Commonwealth play with 22-7 victory over Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Lacrosse traveled to Eastern University this afternoon for their first MAC Commonwealth contest of the season. A tied first quarter would give way to nine unanswered Stevenson goals in the following two, leading the Mustangs to an eventual 22-7 victory.

Three Mustangs tied for a game-high six points. First year Gavin Gossen and junior Jack Scaliti both finished the game with two goals and four assists while senior Andrew Searing scored four goals and added two assists. Gossen stands at 14 points this season (7 G, 7 A), Scaliti at 27 (13 G, 14 A), and Searing at 24 (18 G, 6 A).

Junior Grant Zick and first year Darrell Curtis both earned hat tricks, with Zick adding an assist for four points. Zick's 43 points lead the Mustangs while Curtis now boats 15 goals on the season. Sophomore Max Racich collected three points on two goals and one assist to bring his season point total to 34 with a team-high 23 goals.

With today's offensive tallies, Jack Scaliti and Grant Zick both surpass the 100-point milestone just 11 games into their junior season. Both midfielders sit at 103 to date, with Scaliti boasting 54 goals and 49 assists and Zick posting 55 goals and 48 assists.

Junior Jered Monar notched his eighth goal of the season while adding two assists. Senior Conor Halpin helped himself to his seventh goal this year right off the face-off. Classmate Dillon Linhardt also notched one goal to bring his season point total to five.

Three Mustangs scored their first goals of the season in today's win. Seniors Jack McKenna and Liam Enneguess as well as sophomore Jarred Meehan all found the back of the net. Meehan and Enneguess' goals were their first as Mustangs.

In addition to his goal, Halpin went 23-30 on face-offs and snagged a game-high 17 ground balls to bring his season total to 109 so far. Trailing Halpin were graduate students Nicholas Mulvey and Ed Masterson with five and four ground balls, respectively. Sophomore Brennan McKneely led the Mustangs in caused turnovers with two.

Graduate student Justin Scorese made six saves in the effort.

The MACC victory elevates the Mustangs to a 6-5 overall record and they look to add to their conference record on Wednesday, April 10th with their 6:30 p.m. matchup at Hood College.
