WESTMINSTER, Md. – Play its second doubleheader in as many days, the Stevenson University softball team was swept by McDaniel on Sunday.
The Green Terror rallied in the bottom of the seventh in game one, taking a 7-5 win while McDaniel bested the Mustangs in game two 9-3.
Game 1 – McDaniel 7, Stevenson 5
Trailing 2-0 after one, Stevenson tied the score in the third at 2-all when
Mykaela Getz scored on an RBI single by
McKenzie Tobler. Tobler would later score on a sacrifice fly by
Ava Stafursky.
In the fifth, Tobler drove in Getz this time on a sacrifice fly for a 3-2 lead. Stafursky then hit her first career homerun, a two-run shot that scored
Maddie Bosley for a 5-2 lead.
McDaniel would plate two in the sixth then hit a two-run home run in the seventh for the win.
Rebecca Maiorano had two hits in the game, while Stafursky finished with three RBI.
Ky Vaughn had one strike out and one walk in 5.2 innings, while
Molly Parker took the loss.
Game 2- McDaniel 9, Stevenson 3
After falling behind 2-0 in the first, Stevenson tied the score in the second with two runs as
Caylee Cliett scored on a sacrifice fly by
Maddie Bosley. Tobler would later drive home
Tessa Boswell.
In the sixth, Stevenson got within two at 5-3 as Bosley hit an inside the park home run.
Bosley, Tobler, Stafursky,
Rebecca Henry and
Danielle Mills each had two hits in game two as the Mustangs collected 14 hits.
Grace Briggs threw 4.2 innings, striking out one. Vaughn pitched 1.1 innings in relief.
Stevenson heads to Salisbury on Wednesday.
