OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Messiah swept a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader from Stevenson on Saturday in softball action as the Falcons defeated the Mustangs 17-6 and 8-0 with both games taking just five innings.
In game one, senior infielder
McKenzie Tobler registered her 100
th career hit with the Mustangs. She got the career mark in the first inning with a triple to centerfield. She would later score on a sacrifice fly from
Rebecca Maiorano.
Trailing 5-1 after the top of the second,
Tessa Boswell pulled the Mustangs back to within three at 5-2 when she doubled to right scoring
Rebecca Henry.
Falling behind 10-2, Stevenson plated four runs in the fourth as
Mykaela Getz doubled home
Danielle Mills and Henry.
Maddie Buher would later score on a throwing error. Getz would then score on an RBI sacrifice from
Maddie Bosley.
Henry finished game one 2-for-3, while Mills also had two hits.
Ky Vaughn took the loss, falling to 5-5.
In game two, Getz had two hits while Henry,
Ava Stafursky and
Madi Hershey each hit safely.
Grace Briggs took the loss, with Vaughn pitching game two in relief.
Stevenson is back in action on Sunday, making the short trip to McDaniel.
